1856 $3 Princess Gold Coin - Extremely Fine Details Reed & Barton Mother of Pearl Drum HeadsDecent coin with relatively sharp details. There is a however a notable thin scratch on the obverse. By some accounts the primary purpose for the $3 gold coin was to make the purchase of larger quantities of 3 stamps easier. Whatever the reason, this "odd" denomination is always in demand and one of the more interesting coins in U. S. history.
