MADONNA AND CHILD, C/12 Double Mermaid Shakyamuni or simply the BuddhaGiovanni Battista Salvi da Sassoferrato (1609 1685) is an Italian Baroque painter whose works recalled 15th century painters such as Raphael and Perugino. Sassoferrato is known for his devotional paintings of the Virgin Mary and the Holy Family, which usually recur in different iterations. His painting of Madonna and Child captures the sweet, somewhat Peruginesque style that Sassoferrato brings to his religious works. The bright blue and red colors
