Production began in 2009, initially with 60,000 pure alcohol bottles per year. After Diageo acquired a stake in the distillery, the facility was expanded and the annual output increased to 750,000 pure alcohol. Stauning malts the rye for production and occasionally uses peat and heather for kilning. Stauning Kaos matured for 3 years in a combination of Virgin American
